Focus and Concentration - Sport Psych Saturday

"If you're behind, focus on one point at a time. Don't focus on the score. Don't focus on anything else. Just focus on that one sole point."

- Serena Williams, American Tennis  Player

My Post-5-2-1

Serena Williams, arguably the greatest tennis player of all time, has achieved a total of 39 Grand Slam titles (singles, doubles, and mixed doubles) and is a four time Olympic gold medalist. Feats such as these could not have been achieved without a great deal of focus. With the pressure to win each of her matches, the thought of past losses and mistakes, as well as the media watching her every move, Williams seems to have found a way to overcome all of her distractions when she is competing and focus on one point at a time.

In this weeks Sport Psych Saturday, Brad teaches us what attention is, the different categories of focus and attention, and techniques to help you focus your attention to the task at hand and things within your control.
